Where we've come from

The Fiennes Group’s reputation for quality engineering and restoration has ensured that the business has achieved organic growth over the years alongside our burgeoning reputation for excellence. Recent years have also seen the acquisition of several businesses in the classic vehicle restoration and related engineering sectors bringing together complementary skills and attitudes. With our corporate entities now creating a full-service offering we are at the next stage of development that sees the creation of a single corporate ethos and branding reflecting the depth of expertise and the commitment to excellence that pervades our business units.

The Fiennes Group is borne out of several inter-related operations : Coventry Boring & Metalling was an engineering specialist for vehicles of all types, industrial engines and machinery; Rob Walker Engineering, based in Witney, are performance engineering specialists with a strong pedigree in Mini and Porsche marques; and the Historic Engine Company creates one-off builds and mechanical and restoration projects of modern classics.

The Fiennes Restoration business was founded by Will Fiennes in 1976 and gained its reputation through exceptionally high-quality restorations of pre-war Rolls Royce and Bentley vehicles before expanding across all marques and vintages. The production and engineering of new parts from original drawings and specifications was the root of that business all those years ago and warrants even more prominence in today’s market. More recently, Fiennes Showroom, was formed as a broker for classic and heritage car sales based on the Fiennes ethos of quality service, trust and impartiality.

Our aim has been to integrate all these businesses in a way that builds on their rich heritage whilst meeting the needs of today’s customers in a comprehensive manner under the Fiennes Group branding.

WHAT WE ARE NOW

Fiennes Restoration has become Fiennes Classics, retaining all the key restoration crafts whilst also embracing the skills of Historic Engine Company to support the broadest range and age of marques. Fiennes Parts is the home of this vital support area for the industry and now offers parts for and enhanced range of marques with an e-commerce functionality operating alongside the all-important personal relationships, help and advice necessary to help customers identify exactly what they need. The unique and specialist skills, knowledge and expertise of Coventry Boring & Metalling have become a major component of Fiennes Engineering and have been supplemented by engineering specialisms that were formerly part of Fiennes Restoration such as parts production, reclamation and reverse engineering. Rob Walker Engineering forms the predominant part of Fiennes Performance together with additional performance-orientated services previously provided by Historic Engine Company. Finally, the recently launched Fiennes Showroom continues to grow its portfolio of cars for sale.
