A vision for a world class
centre of excellence
The Fiennes Group has been steadily growing over the past 3 years through the acquisition of several complementary businesses in the Classic vehicle restoration and related engineering sector and are now integrating those companies to form a world-class centre of excellence at their Broughton Poggs headquarters in the Cotswolds near Lechlade.
Group MD Ben Edwards explains the background and the vision behind the plans.
“We had within our Group several inter-related companies. Coventry Boring & Metalling (CBM) were engineering specialists for vehicles of all types and industrial engines and machinery. Rob Walker Engineering (RWE) in Witney were performance engineering specialists with a strong pedigree in Mini and Porsche and the Historic Engine Company (HEC) dealt with one off builds and mechanical and restoration projects of modern classics. These are in addition to the well-known Fiennes Restoration business that was founded by Will Fiennes in 1976 and gained its reputation through high quality work on pre-war Rolls Royce Bentley vehicles and expanded to handle many other ages and marques. The production and engineering of parts to original drawings and specifications was the root of that business all those years ago and warrants more prominence in today’s market. The final part of the current mix is Fiennes Showroom, recently set up as a broker for classic car sales based on service, trust and impartiality.”
“We wanted to integrate and operate these businesses in a way that built on their rich heritage whilst meeting the needs of today’s customers and to combine them as a world-renowned centre of excellence for restoration, engineering skills and craftsmanship.”
